The Lady Speaks

“The Most Insidious of Traitors”

Evil Incarnate forced himself out of his undisclosed location to give a speech in which he threatens the US will take action against Iran.

Once again, the misAdministration proves that it only goes after o-i-l and countries that do not already have nuclear weapons. North Korea, anyone? China? Israel? Britain? Pakistan, where Mr. Bin Forgotten is getting his groove on and encouraging his Taliban buddies?

From the Associated Press:

The United States and other nations will not allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon, Vice President Dick Cheney said Sunday.

[snip]

He said Iran’s efforts to pursue technology that would allow it to build a nuclear weapon are obvious and that “the regime continues to practice delay and deceit in an obvious effort to buy time.” [Not that the Big Dick would know anything about practicing delay and deceit … – Jenn]

If Iran continues on its current course, Cheney said the U.S. and other nations are prepared to take action. The vice president made no specific reference to military action.

“We will not allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon,” he said.

Gee, Mr. Vice-President, wouldn’t that have been easier if you and your minions hadn’t decided that Valerie Plame was “fair game”?

From ThinkProgress:

PLAME: Our mission was to make sure that the bad guys, basically, did not get nuclear weapons.

COURIC: When senior administration officials leaked her name to reporters, they may have exposed other spies and damaged operations targeting Iran. CBS News has learned that she was involved in one highly classified mission to deliver fake nuclear weapons blueprints to Tehran. It was called Operation Merlin, and it was first revealed in a book by investigative reporter James Risen. [my emphasis]

From Raw Story:

According to current and former intelligence officials, Plame Wilson, who worked on the clandestine side of the CIA in the Directorate of Operations as a non-official cover (NOC) officer, was part of an operation tracking distribution and acquisition of weapons of mass destruction technology to and from Iran.

Speaking under strict confidentiality, intelligence officials revealed heretofore unreported elements of Plame’s work. Their accounts suggest that Plame’s outing was more serious than has previously been reported and carries grave implications for U.S. national security and its ability to monitor Iran’s burgeoning nuclear program. [my emphasis]

So, we don’t know exactly what the Iranians are doing because Valerie Plame’s identity was leaked – by your office. For no reason other than pure spite and to chill dissent. “Fair game?”

In 1999, at the dedication of the George Bush Center for Intelligence, the former President and head of the CIA in the last year of the Ford administration, said,

“I have nothing but contempt and anger for those who betray the trust by exposing the name of our sources. They are, in my view, the most insidious of traitors.

Oh, and you know that whole “stabilizing the region” nonsense you and the rest of the misAdministration keep repeating, even as you destroyed a woman’s career, jeopardized who knows how many lives, and ruined a network whose goal was to prevent Iran from gaining nuclear technology?

Yeah, that’s working … not.

From the USA Today:

Dozens of military vehicles headed toward the Iraqi border and protesters demanded tough action against Kurdish rebels on Monday after 12 soldiers were killed in an ambush that has pushed Turkey closer to a possible attack on guerrilla bases in Iraq.

An AP Television News cameraman saw a convoy of 50 military vehicles, loaded with soldiers and weapons, heading from the southeastern town of Sirnak toward Uludere, closer to the border.

It was unclear whether the vehicles were being sent to reinforce troops engaged in fighting with rebels on Turkish soil, or were preparing for possible cross-border action. Tens of thousands of Turkish troops are already deployed in the border area.

From the AP:

Saif Alwan, 14, was sleeping on the roof of his house when the dawn raid began. In another home in Baghdad’s Shiite enclave of Sadr City, 2-year-old Ali Hamid and his parents were asleep indoors when heavy gunfire from a helicopter pierced the wall and windows.

Neighbors and relatives said the two boys were killed and Hamid’s parents seriously wounded in the latest operation by the U.S. military or private Western security teams that are reported to have taken a heavy toll on civilians.

The U.S. military said its forces killed an estimated 49 militants during the raid […]

Iraqi police and hospital officials, who often overstate casualties, reported 15 deaths, including three children. Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said all the dead were civilians.

And what about that “support the troops” rhetoric the White House keeps spouting whenever anyone dares to ask questions, or whenever the Democrats try to pass a bill that would actually … y’know – support the troops?

From the Charlotte Observer:

Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans suffering traumatic brain injury, grave wounds or serious illnesses often wait longer for outpatient appointments than the 30-day VA standard, according to an Observer analysis of two internal VA reports.

[snip]

At issue: Patients needing critical care accounted for 10.5 percent of total appointments scheduled, but 20 percent of those with longer waits.

The Observer’s findings could signal that the VA is struggling to care for the neediest of the new veterans. Critics and veterans advocates say the system is overwhelmed, poorly managed and lacks medical specialists.

[snip]

Most VA hospitals, including all six in the Carolinas, showed lags in delivering outpatient care for serious problems, according to the newspaper’s analysis. For example:

Twenty-four percent of appointments nationwide for traumatic brain injury care exceeded the 30-day mark this summer.

At the Salisbury VA hospital, 61 percent of appointments for the seriously wounded were scheduled more than 30 days out this summer, one of the worst records nationwide.

At the Charleston VA in South Carolina, 13 of 14 patients slated to be seen for brain injury waited more than a month. At 93 percent, that was the worst record nationwide.

Heckova job. And I haven’t even gotten to Blackwater killing innocent civilians, stealing airplanes, lying to Congress, and being paid billions to do it. Nor have I gotten to the CPA, Halliburton, no-bid rigged contracts, a corrupt and incompetent Attorney General, approval of torture, renditioning, and more lying to Congress. Illegal wiretapping of American citizens, signing statements, suspension of habeas corpus, the breaking of the military, and more lying to Congress. And so much more…

By the way, you Bushies might want to start drinking bottled water or testing your workplace for lead because far, far too many of you are showing signs of early Alzheimer’s and serious psychiatric illnesses.
