Mississippi outlaws sex toys

There’s a lot I could say, but…well…my mother reads this blog!

You’d think Mississipi could find better things to worry about – like the fact that its people are the fattest in the land. Like the fact that there are still people and businesses trying to recover from the devastation of Katrina. Like that it ranks near the top in number of children living in poverty.

Like the fact that Trent Lott’s porch hasn’t been rebuilt, for Pete’s sake!!

But no. Rather than worry about any of that, Mississippi is worried about Mississippians and ‘three-dimensional devices…useful primarily for the stimulation of human genitals…’

Seems a bit rude – especially when those BOBs might be the only exercise folks in Mississippi are getting.

Read more at Dan Abrams blog.

*Actually, re-reading it, I realize that Mississippi has outlawed the ‘distribution’ of the sex toys. So…selling is bad, but using is still okay?

  2. Well soon everyone in Mississippi will have to go “out of state” to buy their toys…kinda like New Yorkers who cross into PA to save a little on cigarette taxes? I wonder…will they still be able to buy them online…where they come in discreet little brown paper packages…~LOL~ {Or will that be illegal too???} You find the most interesting laws Sissy…I love it!

  3. campie: I guess the point of it is to shut down the adult toy stores, but it does make you wonder: Are there a lot of people in MS running around, screaming to the world, ‘Hey look at my cool BOB!’?
eowen: Most of ‘em probably slip over to the next county to buy their toys anyway – nobody wants the neighbors and the folks in church to know they’re buying ‘adult toys’. So driving across the border won’t bother them too much, and for those it does, the Post Office in their towns will be seeing an increase in those brown-paper packages.
As to finding this stuff – well, one can’t help but click on a headline at msnbc.com that says, ‘MS Bans Sex Toys’.

  4. Again, and I guess forever, I am just not understanding the focus of so many factions on other peoples’ sex lives.
    What’s the dang deal?
If you don’t approve of sex, sex toys, sex moviees, etc. don’t partake but for heavens sake, get some kind of life and leave the rest of us alone!

  5. Dee: I can’t understand it either, but apparently these are the same people who don’t know they have actual choices when it comes to television viewing. Change the channel or (*gasp*) get rid of the cable, but stop telling us what to do!

  6. What a ridiculous ruling. It’s not as if people will be running amok in the streets of Mississippi robbing citizens armed with a 12″ dildo now is it? These people that pass such rulings really need to take a long hard look at themselves and their reasons for passing them. They are clearly not liberal, open-minded individuals.

We own an online store selling such products and we’ve seen a significant month-on-month rise in our sales over the last year or so, not despite the economic downturn but BECAUSE of it! More and more people, singles and couples, are staying at home and having their fun rather than hitting the town and spending a small fortune.

Let people have their fun if they aren’t harming anyone!

This is actually good news for us in the online business, all them folks from Mississippi who cannot go to a local sex store will need to get their goods online now.

    HEY MISSISSIPPI, COME GET SOME!!
